Frequently Asked Questions
I used the product, but it didn't work for me.
A: The product only lightens organic stains to restore the natural color of your teeth. It does not work on crowns, veneers, fillings, or intrinsic stains from tetracyclines or fluorosis. Bacterial plaque or tartar also prevent the gel from penetrating the enamel. A professional cleaning is recommended beforehand to ensure proper whitening. During use, you should not smoke or drink dark liquids, as the enamel is exposed and would stain immediately, ruining the treatment.
The product causes sensitivity.
A: Carbamide peroxide is highly recommended for sensitive teeth, as its process is slower than hydrogen peroxide. However, it is recommended to use it for only 10 minutes a day, which is when the lamp automatically shuts off. Repeating the treatment on the same day or applying more whitening gel, hoping for better results, as well as increasing the exposure time, is a mistake, as the tooth needs 24 hours to stabilize. Insisting on this process will only create sensitivity and irritation. Similarly, the dose should not exceed 0.5 ml on each side of the tray, taking great care to apply the gel to the lower part so that it doesn’t reach the gum when inserting the tray into your mouth. If you follow the instructions precisely, you shouldn’t have any problems, as it’s a very gentle treatment. If the discomfort persists, use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth for a few days or consult your dentist.
I used the kit, but it only whitened my teeth 2 or 3 shades.
A: If your natural tooth shade is light or medium, or if you had whitening done a few months ago, it’s impossible to go 10 shades lighter, because you would reach pure bone color or even an artificial white that doesn’t exist in human dentin. If you want that artificial color, I recommend using resin or porcelain veneers. It is also highly recommended to have a professional cleaning with your dentist beforehand, as any tartar buildup can interfere with the whitening process. Remember that you should also avoid drinking any dark liquids or smoking during the treatment, as the enamel will be exposed during those days and could stain immediately.
Can I speed up the process by using it 2 or 3 times a day?
A: NO! All you will achieve is severe gum irritation and extreme, painful sensitivity. It is recommended to follow the instructions on the box precisely to achieve the desired results.
I feel like it weakens my teeth.
A: It does not weaken teeth. Both carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide, which dentists use, penetrate the tooth and extract water and proteins from the enamel to reach the dentin, where the color is located. This dehydration makes the tooth feel more sensitive. Once the tooth is rehydrated with saliva, this sensation disappears. Your saliva contains calcium and phosphate, which carry out a natural remineralization process. In a few days, the pores close, and the enamel regains its original hardness. Enamel is the hardest tissue in the human body. It’s much more durable than you might think!
Isn't it better to apply the gel directly to the teeth?
A: No. The product is designed to be applied in its tray. Using it indiscriminately on the teeth can cause the gel to run up or down onto the gums, leading to inflammation. This type of application without a tray should only be done by a dentist.
Does it have side effects?
A: Yes, but only in specific cases, and they are temporary. Dentin sensitivity and gum irritation are the most common. However, these occur when using more product than indicated, causing the gel to leak from the applicator, or when repeating the treatment several times in a single day. If you follow the instructions precisely, you won’t have any problems.
